Visiting the Loire châteaux by car can be a chore: crowded paid car parks, toll barriers and queues. By bicycle, you arrive through the royal estates' woodland avenues without parking fees, with the river breeze at your back. If a stage becomes too long or the sky clouds over, simply take your bike onto a regular TER train.
